How does Wagmo pet insurance work?
Wagmo offers both standard pet insurance and wellness plans which are fully customizable to suit every budget and every pet. The insurance plans cover emergencies, accidents, and illnesses, while the optional wellness packages offer coverage for everyday care. Monthly premiums are calculated by the zip code, breed, age, and sex of your pet. Although you can choose your preferred deductible, Wagmo has capped the reimbursement level, lifetime limit and incident limit. They claim this is to avoid you paying for extra coverage which their research shows you may not need. Claims are submitted online.

Wagmo plans explained
There is a single insurance plan available with Wagmo that is adaptable to your preferences. Choose between three deductible amounts - $250, $500, or $1,000. To keep things simple and at a lower monthly cost, Wagmo has capped the lifetime claim limit to $100,000 and the per-incident limit to $10,000. All plans also have up to 100% co-insurance. Then, if you’d like to add additional wellness coverage, choose from one of three packages which suit all budgets. Wagmo dog insurance prices start from $13 a month while cat insurance begins at $9 a month. The age of your pet will also affect your premium.

Are there any exclusions?
Insurance plans do not cover pre-existing conditions, prescription food, dental surgeries, grooming, spraying/neutering, alternative therapies, preventative care, cosmetic surgeries, and vitamins or supplements. Although you can add some of these things to your coverage with an additional wellness plan.
What are the waiting periods for conditions?
Accident and illness insurance has a waiting period of 15 days, but cancer treatment has a waiting period of 30 days – twice as long.
How quickly does Wagmo pay claims?
There is a big difference in how claims are processed for wellness and insurance. Wellness claims are processed in-house so have a very fast turnaround of 24 hours. However, insurance claims are processed by a third party within a week. Payment times will also vary depending on which method you selected – bank transfer, paper check in the mail, or instant card payment. Wellness reimbursements can also be made via Venmo or PayPal.
Can I customize my Wagmo plan?
Yes. Lifetime and incident limits are capped by Wagmo to keep costs down, but you can still choose your deductible amount. You can also choose a wellness plan to add extra coverage at a price that suits you – value, classic, or deluxe.
State availability for Wagmo
You can take your pet to any licensed veterinarian clinic across the US.
Verdict: Is Wagmo pet insurance good?
Wagmo’s online services are speedy and user-friendly, but it would be nice to see a phone line for customers who prefer to speak to a human. Overall, our reviewers said they were happy with the level of coverage they received with Wagmo and that all claims are covered with 100% co-insurance. It’s also worth noting that premiums may increase as your pet ages and there are fewer deductible options for older pets, so if you’re furry friend is past their puppy years you might want to seek an alternative provider. We also love the variety of wellness plans which cater to every budget.
